LIB Collection API for Museum Koenig Bonn

Web service for accessing the natural history collections data in the digital catalog of LIB.

Results are avaliable in HTML, JSON or XML/RDF format. Various parameters can be used to scroll through the results, request a specific format or set the page size.

Searching

Each search parameter is an approximate search for the word. Thus the text accessionnumber=RLF-O finds all entries in which the catalog number begins with MAM.

• /collection_GFBio: list of all accessible specimens in the catalog.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio
• /collection_GFBio?taxonname=<name of a taxon or species>: search for taxon name or species name in catalog.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio?taxonname=Cyprinidae
• /collection_GFBio?project=<project name>: search for all entries from a given project.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio?project=DSUB-447

Detailed information for one entry

• /collection_GFBio?accessionnumber=<catalog number>: details of one collection specimen entry from a given catalog number.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio?accessionnumber=RLF-Perca fluviatilis-100315
• /collection_GFBio/<specimen id>: details of one collection specimen entry from a given specimen id. Please note: the specimen id is part of the url path, not a parameter.

• /collection_GFBio/<specimen id>/<unit id>/<part id>: details of one specimen part entry from a given specimen id.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio/313335/311154/311153

Paging query parameters

• page=<page number>: jump to a page in the result list.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio?page=3
• pagesize=<number>: set the pagesize, i.e. the number of entries schon on each page (default: 100).
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio?pagesize=10

Data format

The data format of the server response can be passed either as query parameter, as URL path or via content negotiation.
Possible formats are: html, json and xml/rdf.
The described parameters for browsing and searching for taxon names and projects are possible, as well as the URL path extensions for the detailed display of an entry from the catalog.

Format parameter

• format=<json|html|rdf>: returns the result in the specified format.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio?format=json

Format url path

• /json/: returns the result in json format.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio/json?project=DSUB-447&page=3
• /html/: returns the result in html format (default). Parameters for paging, and search for taxon names and projects are possible.
  Example: https://id.zfmk.de/collection_GFBio/html?taxonname=Neogobius&page=11
• /rdf/xml/: returns the result in rdf format. Parameters for paging, and search for taxon names and projects are possible. The data format rdf works only for single entries.
